Most patients with acute LBP improve spontaneously within four weeks however, chronic LBP is extremely common and usually mechanical in nature.

3 It is the most common musculoskeletal complaint with lifetime incidence estimated at 80% and it is also a main cause of loss of work and has significant effects on the economy. 2 LBP is an important musculoskeletal condition that results in clinical, social and public health problems globally. LBP is pain, muscle tension, or stiffness localized below the costal margin and above the inferior gluteal lines, with or without sciatica or nerve pain and defined as chronic when it lasts for 12 weeks or more. The most frequent musculoskeletal disorders are osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and low back pain (LBP). Symptoms include pain, dysfunction or discomfort in the bones, joints, muscles, or surrounding structures, which can be acute or chronic, focal, or diffuse. Please keep my classmates and I in your prayers.Musculoskeletal conditions, also called musculoskeletal disorders, consist of conditions where a part of the musculoskeletal system is injured or affected over time. I just thought I take a study break and right a post especially for any potential students. I love this idea!!! It shows the university really wants its students to be successful and great doctors. At the latest of MED 2 a student can decide if they want to switch from MED to EBS. We will move onto MED if we pass ARP overall with a 80% and higher. We will move onto EBS if we pass ARP overall with a 70% and higher.

They want to understand all of the basic sciences before moving on to Maine to study for the USMLE Step 1. I heard that they choose EBS over MED so that they won't feel rushed to learn so much material. EBS stands for Extended Basic Sciences and lasts for 5 semesters instead of 4 hence extended. MED is the regular medical program at UMHS and lasts for 4 semesters. We will have a final at the end of the semester over EVERYTHING we have learned for all modules!!! Once we have passed, we will get automatically accepted into MED or EBS. Very tough!!! I have faith that my classmates and I can and will do well! We help each other in any way. Right now we are taking Physiology, Cell Biology and Organic Chemistry. So far we have completed Math, Physics, Gen Chem, Anatomy, and Behavioral Sciences. Some of the modules run concurrent with each other so it is very important to keep up with the material. The classes include Gen Chem, Physics, Math, Histology, Organic Chem, Anatomy, Physiology, Cell Biology, Immunology, Pharmacology, Anatomy Lab, Genetics, Biochem, Pathology, NeuroScience, Behavioral Sciences and Microbiology. After the module has ended, you take an exam over everything you have learned in that time span. The modules or classes range from a week to 3 weeks long. It consists of taking classes in different subjects that you most likely have taken in undergrad and some you might not have. I am in a program at UMHS called ARP or Accelerated Review Program. I have been on the island about a month and a half. Hey all! It's has gotten really busy with classes and keeping up with the material.
