How long could it have taken to come up with such howlers as “ ‘Two Thumbs Up!'-Captain Hook”? or “ ‘I Wish He Were My Son'-Darth Vader”? or “ ‘A 10+! Junior Had Me in Stitches!'-Frankenstein”?

Overall, this is a horrible movie with many, many, many, many flaws. The marketing staff at Universal Pictures must have had a lot of fun writing the blurbs for its ad campaign for “Problem Child"-for about 10 minutes anyway.

I'm left wondering, was Pennywise a human cursed with immortality, á la Freddy Kreuger, or was he never human to begin with? His motivation is also never explored either. While he's clearly supernatural, how he came to be is never explained. Pennywise's origins are never made clear. I get that Pennywise might have a malign influence over the adults, but some of them, most notably the mother of one child, come off as schizophrenic.Ĥ. Seriously, they are all either pedophiles, overbearing, or both. As far as violence goes, Pennywise is stabbed in the head, he slashes a child's chest open, tears another child's arm off, a bully tries to carve his name in a child's chest and Pennywise is hit with a chain, a bat, a pipe, a rod, and even bare hands.ģ. For instance, the Losers' Club never get help from the police, let alone a single adult, they just go to fight Pennywise all by themselves, and they don't even bring any weapons.Ģ. The problem doesn't come from the plot, which is a ripoff of '' Super 8'' and ''A Nightmare on Elm Street'', you can see a lot of other problems with ''IT''. "IT'' tells the story of seven outcast kids in Derry, Maine, who are dealing with bullies, but their summer is made worse when they must overcome their own personal fears to battle the murderous, bloodthirsty clown known as Pennywise. Much less than the book, or any horror movie I've seen this year. What's even better is how little gore It (no pun intended) had. I think it would've been better if the movie was longer, yup 2 hours and 23 minutes weren't enough. Everything was just greatly polished and the madness and unpredictability of it just left me in awe. If you've read the book there were definitely important stuff that were emphasized in this film. It was scary but there were laughs in the audience because it had this perfect balance with laughter, scares and the way the movie was filmed and written. When we talk about Pennywise, we all have that idea of how great Tim Curry's portrayal was, but with this film, there's absolutely no use in comparing Skarsgard's portrayal with Tim's because Bill's unpredictable version of Pennywise was undoubtedly perfect! He just has something that makes him alluring but at the same time you're just infatuated by his creepiness as Pennywise. When SK himself approved of the film before I had the privilege of watching it, I was ecstatic because that could mean it raised the bar. This is definitely the best Stephen King film adaptation so far.
